Drug and Alcohol problems affect every part of the population. It is not the result of weakness or lack of willpower. It is a very debilitating condition that causes the sufferer to deny the problem and continue on a path of self destruction that affects not only themselves, but everyone they come into contact with. People often underestimate how difficult and challenging addiction recovery can be. Very few people succeed on their own. While AA and NA self-help programs are cost effective (free) and provide excellent support, sometimes these programs are not enough. Mostly because they lack the technique a professional can provide and the one-on-one counseling the individual needs to recover. Also, private counseling and treatment provides discreet and personalized treatment as an alternative to the public eye of self-help meetings.
If you, or someone you know is suffering from addiction or dependency issues, please call right away and discuss what you can do about it. Help is easier than you may think and there are a variety of solutions that can help including:

INTERVENTION: Many people with addiction are in denial of their problem and it is often family or friends or employers that are more aware of the danger than the individual. Until the addicted person "hits bottom", sometimes it is impossible to help them see how destructive their behavior is and how they are damaging not only themselves but those that care about them. The process of INTERVENTION allows us to force crisis with the person and induce "hitting bottom" by confronting them with their addiction. Many people have seen the TV show "Intervention" on A&E and are familiar with the process. However, there is much more to the process than the show can broadcast due to time. Intervention should never be done without the advice or guidance of a trained professional due to the high probability of making the situation worse. With the help of a trained professional, intervention can be a cathartic and controlled experience that can force the addict to begin recovery as well as help the family and loved ones begin to heal. When addiction is in the family, the entire family needs help, not just the addict if the situation is to improve.
There is no need to suffer for a moment longer. Get help. For your loved one or for yourself.
